Glasgow Airport is an airport west of Glasgow near the cities of Paisley and Renfrew. It is the second most busy airport of Schotland and the 8th busiest airport in the United Kingdom. Glasgow Airport is also the first airport who got more then one million passanger in one month in Schotland, in July 2004. The History of Glasgow Airport

The history of Glasgow Airport goes as far back in 1932, when the airport was opened by the Royal Air Force 602. During the 40’s a torpedo unit was created, which trained the Royal Navy crews and the RAF. In October 1963 the Royal Navy left the airport. The decision was made by Glasgow Corporation that an airport was needed for Glasgow. The airport was originally located 3 km from the city of Abbotsinch. Renfrew airport as the airport was called does not exist anymore the airport was abandoned in 1966. BAA took ownership of Glasgow Airport in 1975.  Glasgow Aiport was renamed to Glasglow International Airport and in 1989 a huge redevelopment plan was created. A terminal building was build using a pre fabricated structure made of metal. In 1996 Glasgow Airport had more than 5.5 million passengers per year, it was the fourth-largest airport at that time in the UK. Today Glasgow airport is home to Ryanair, Jet2, easy Jet, TUI, Thomas Cook Airlanes and Loganair.
